Boyce said, this niche did not look like a shrine, but it was described as an aedicula in the excavation report.

VII.1.7 Pompeii. December 2007. North wall. The site of the stairs to upper floor can be seen in the line on the plaster.
The stone base would have been towards the east end, where there can be seen a stone and patch of green.
At the side of the stone base would have been the latrine. A downpipe can just be seen in the north-east corner.
